Mi Casa Restaurant Monopoli
MiCasa in Monopoli is a perfect example of how a restaurant can blend history and modernity into one captivating experience. Housed in a historic building that was once a residence, the venue stands out for its balance between its origins and contemporary design innovations. Overlooking the sea and adjacent to an ancient castle, MiCasa offers an atmosphere that invites you to enjoy architectural and decorative details while indulging in a culinary experience or a drink at the bar.
Architect Alessandra Notarangelo’s intervention enhanced these historical elements, preserving the authenticity of the original structure while adding a sophisticated visual layering that integrates new materials and design. The Poetry Stone Traces Mud flooring, created by ABK Emozioni in collaboration with Paola Navone and OTTO Studio, is one of the project’s defining elements. This choice emphasizes the interplay of patterns and textures, giving the floor a “traced” and lived-in appearance, aligned with the concept of bringing out the location's historical memory. The patterns resemble almost natural imprints or designs, adding a sense of depth and movement to the space, making the flooring a focal point.
Notarangelo also incorporated wallpaper and custom-designed walls, combining furniture and wall decor elements that reflect the balance between tradition and modernity. Every detail within MiCasa is carefully chosen to evoke a sense of informal elegance, typical of contemporary Italian design, yet with roots deeply connected to the site’s history.
